How to Remove Background Noise in OBS (Mic Noise Suppression)
OBS cleans your microphone live with a filter. It only affects new streams and recordings, not files you already have.
Add Noise Suppression in OBS
- In the Audio Mixer, click the three dots next to your mic and choose Filters.
- Click + and add Noise Suppression.
- Choose RNNoise for good quality on any computer, or NVIDIA Noise Removal if you have an RTX card.
- Optionally add a Noise Gate before it to cut sound between sentences.
- Do a short test recording and listen back with headphones.
Tips
- Speex uses less CPU but sounds worse than RNNoise.
- Keep the mic close; suppression works better when the voice is louder than the noise.
