How to Remove Background Noise in Premiere Pro

Premiere Pro cleans dialogue through the Essential Sound panel. You tag the clip as dialogue first, then turn on the repair options.

Clean dialogue in Premiere Pro

  1. Open Window > Essential Sound and select the audio clip on the timeline.
  2. Click Dialogue to tag the clip.
  3. Under Repair, check Reduce Noise and start around 4–5. Raise it slowly; high values make voices thin.
  4. Check Reduce Rumble for low traffic or AC noise, and DeHum for 50/60 Hz electrical buzz.
  5. In recent versions you can also try Enhance Speech at the top of the Dialogue tab for heavier cleanup.

Tips

Still hearing noise?

For clips that still sound noisy, or when you do not want to tune sliders, export the audio, run it through Denoiso and replace the track. The picture is untouched if you upload the video file itself.
